Dr. Julie Kavanagh is a board-certified veterinary cardiologist with a strong commitment to
improving the quality of life of pets with heart disease. She graduated from University
College Dublin, Ireland, in 2012 and spent two formative years in small animal first opinion
practice, gaining valuable hands-on clinical experience. She then completed both a rotating internship and a dedicated cardiology internship at Davies Veterinary Specialists in the UK, where her interest in advanced cardiac care was firmly established.

Dr. Kavanagh went on to complete a residency in veterinary cardiology at the Royal
Veterinary College in London, achieving her American Diploma in Cardiology (ACVIM) in
2019. Following this, she returned to Northern Ireland to establish the country’s first
specialist veterinary cardiology service, significantly expanding access to advanced
diagnostics and treatment for pets with heart disease.

In 2022, Dr. Kavanagh relocated to Yorkshire, UK to further develop her expertise in
interventional cardiology. She now brings this experience to Veterinary Specialists of
Sydney, where her clinical interests include complex congenital heart disease and minimally invasive cardiac procedures.
