What Is Neurosurgery

What is Neurosurgery?

When it comes to animals, they are not very different from humans. They have a range of emotions the way we do. And it’s no different when it comes to illnesses, including neurological conditions.

Neurological conditions affect the brain, spinal cord and central nervous system of small animals. So yes, they can have an illness like epilepsy or can become paralysed due to an injury or disease.

As with all illnesses, the earlier the diagnosis, the earlier your beloved pet can be treated.

And when it comes to neurosurgery, you want to see a veterinary surgical specialist as soon as possible to get the right treatment underway.

For vets, you can refer your patient to us at VSOS. We have been working in partnership with vets throughout Sydney since we founded VSOS.

And for pet owners, you can contact us directly to discuss your pet’s neurological concerns.

Dedicated Neurosurgeons

VSOS provides expert neurology services that target the brain, spinal cord and central nervous system, providing much-needed treatment and care for animals with neurological diseases.

Dr Nina Lorenz has a particular passion for, and expertise in, neurosurgery, especially any problems related to the spine.

Dedicated Neurosurgeons

Our specialised imaging equipment allows for fast and accurate diagnosis of many neurological conditions, including:

  • Atlanta axial-luxation stabilisation
  • cervical spondylomyelopathy (Wobbler syndrome)
  • intervertebral disc disease (pre-operative myelogram, CT or MRI are indicated)
  • lumbosacral decompression/stabilisation or epidural steroid
  • spinal fractures.

And our extensive experience in neurosurgery means better outcomes for our patients to manage their neurological conditions.

Patient stories
