Claudine La Cava

Hospital Assistant

A big move

Claudine met Dr Karina Graham while she was working with Jimmy Barnes’ dogs, Snoopy and Oliver. She spent many years working with the dogs… and in turn developed a strong relationship with Karina, who was the Barnes family vet.

After Snoopy and Oliver sadly passed away in 2019, Claudine was at a fork in the road looking for a new role to utilise her passion for animals. Karina presented her with an opportunity.

“Karina told me about the hospital and invited me to apply for the position. I love working with animals, so I jumped at the chance. I even relocated to Sydney from the Southern Highlands to take up the job!”

Making new furry friends

Claudine has a number of roles in the VSOS advanced treatment centre. She helps the nurses with the animals doing everything from walking to toileting and cleaning… whatever needs to be done, Claudine will roll up her sleeves and get it done.

Claudine also leads our patient transport service, driving our customised patient transport vehicle to pick up patients from the local vet and drop them back when they have recovered, or are continuing treatment.

It’s a job Claudine loves for many reasons.

“The hospital is amazing and so are the people who work here. It has completely exceeded my expectations.”

But for Claudine, the best part of her job is the new furry friends she is making every day.
