Amelia Bayot

Sterile Processing Supervisor

Amelia Bayot

Professional and caring

Amelia plays a valuable role behind the scenes at VSOS. She not only manages and maintains the quality of the surgical instruments, she also assists the team where required… And being in the process of completing her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing places her well for being able to lend a professional hand as the practice needs.

Before joining VSOS, Amelia worked and studied at Taronga Zoo Hospital for around two years. And although she loved her role there, it wasn’t until she joined the VSOS team that she realised she could offer so much more.

“It’s the attention to detail that the whole team has that has been really infectious. I’ve learned so much about protocol and correct sterilisation techniques, which is so important. The VSOS standards are so high for every aspect of what we do… it’s just something I really admire and always aim for.”

A passion for learning

And she is always learning, because she’s so ready and willing to absorb all the time. She particularly loves to keep a keen eye during surgeries to learn as much as she can. And this is something the VSOS team finds invaluable.

“I just feel really lucky to be working with such great people, so I try to do as much as I can to contribute.”

Amelia knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a vet nurse.

“Ever since I was four years old, being a vet nurse is all I wanted to do. I’ve always loved animals, ever since I was young when I would save the Christmas beetles that were in the swimming pool. I just love caring for them. I have plenty at home with two cats, a turtle, a dog, and we’ve just added a puppy as well!”

Amelia is a passionate animal photographer and conservationist, which is something she gets to fulfil when she travels.
